Bobbie with owl friend

Raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Bobbie grew up in a home with exotic pet birds - - an Amazon Green Parrot, a Toucan, several finches, budgies and canaries. Collecting their colourful feathers was one of her favourite childhood pastimes.

After many years in Calgary, she and her husband retired to Sooke, BC where her love for birds -- this time in the wild -- was rekindled.

In 1998 Bobbie did her first feather painting, a tiny lighthouse, and was thrilled when it sold within a few minutes of being displayed. However, feathers seemed to demand birds on them -- if a feather cannot be restored to the bird, a bird should be restored to the feather.

Bobbie's work has been selected to appear in several adjudicated fine arts shows in the Greater Victoria area as well as on the lower Mainland of British Columbia -- the Sooke Fine Arts show, the Sidney Fine Art Show and the "Honey, I Shrunk the Artwork" Miniature show at the Maple Ridge Gallery.

Bobbie is Past President of the Sooke Community Arts Council, one of the Directors of the new Sooke Fine Arts Society and an active member of the All Sooke Arts and Crafts.

A portion of the proceeds from this site is donated annually to the BC SPCA Wild Arc (Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre).  Bobbie also supports their cause by donating a painting yearly for their annual fundraiser auction.  You may wish to visit their site to see how you can help too!
